About this speaker

I work as a Music Therapist and Educator at the Swedish National Center for Rett Syndrome and Related Disorders. I am also a PhD student at the Department of Special Education at Stockholm University. In my work at the National Center, I combine research with clinical and practical work, i.e. patient assessments together with my colleagues in the interdisciplinary team. I also perform consultations and education for the network around the patient with the rare diagnosis, including parents and relatives to the individual.

My research interests are special needs education, alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) and how music and aesthetic expressions could be used to enhance participation, development and learning in people with extensive communicative and motor disabilities, including people with rare genetic diagnoses. My doctoral project includes the scientific evaluation and implementation of an intervention with Multisensory Music Drama together with school staff and young students with severe or profound intellectual disabilities, including students with Rett syndrome.
