Daniela Tropea

I am Associate Professor of Molecular Psychiatry in Trinity College Dublin since October 2018. My lab studies the molecular mechanisms involved in brain function and plasticity in Health and Disease with a particular interest in Growth Factors. I was the first to study the effects of Insulin- like growth factor 1 and its derivatives in brain plasticity and their role in the treatment for Rett Syndrome and other neurodevelopmental disorders (Tropea e al., 2009). In my laboratory I continue the exploration of IGF1 function in basic research and in clinical studies, and I also explore the biomarkers for patients’ stratifications and symptoms severity.
